Who are the Alevis?
Not really Flight of the Sorceressstuff, but I have a post on http://agauchepress.com/category/whats-new/ that might be of interest to some of you who are wondering what's going on in Syria.
My friend Hilton wanted to know whether Alevis believe that Ali, Mohammed's cousin and son-in-law, was/is a deity. I responded in a wall posting thread in Facebook. The brief answer is "yes" (but whether this is majority of the sect or some minority of an indeterminate size, we don't know;) ... "maybe," (some think he's part of a trinity with Allah and Mohammed;) ... and "not all of them." I think we can safely say that they "like" Ali and would request that he become their Facebook friend.
